The Blue Jays Secure World Series Matchup With Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

Springer was instrumental for the Houston Astros claiming the championship in the 2017 season.

Toronto's Blue Jays earned a spot in their first Fall Classic following the 1993 season by defeating the Mariners in the final Game 7 of the ALCS.

Trailing by two runs, outfielder George Springer smashed a three-run home run in the seventh frame, leading the Toronto squad in MLB to a 4-3 win in the seven-game series. They will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team that is the defending champions, in the upcoming championship.

"It's incredible for everyone here, our city, Canada," Springer stated, a key player of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 title. "It's truly an amazing experience."

George Springer has now connected for 23 October home runs, ranking him third all-time behind Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"It's hard to imagine anyone else in the world that I'd choose in that situation other than him with his playoff prowess," said Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

Seattle's team, after leading the early in the series, continue to be the one club never to appear in a championship series.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson said "without a doubt that it's going to sting" in the wake of his side's defeat at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but applauded their efforts throughout the year.

"They're an exceptional squad. Sadly that we ended up on the unsuccessful side of this game," he added.

The Blue Jays claimed the World Series on both previous visits in 1992 and 1993, and are set to host the Los Angeles in the first game on this Friday.
