Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Has The Club's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot conceded that it was expected for doubts to be asked about his future following a further heavy loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their ninth defeat in twelve games, representing the team's poorest streak since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I've received a lot of support from above,” Slot remarked.

“It's important to reverse this trend and secure a win naturally but when you're coaching a team and struggling then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my role. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a challenging situation but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with The Board

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his conversations with the team officials, the head coach revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they don’t call me constantly each day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “In the normal discussions I perceive the trust. But I haven’t spoken to them after this game yet so we'll see.”

Recurring Issues and Squad Response

Slot expressed regret over familiar shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their European loss, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder stated.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I’m past getting mad internally. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the words.”

He went on, “It's tough because I’m playing for the team I support. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a phase like this with performances this poor.”

He stated, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And as long as it is taken away, we will always compete.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad back to its rightful place, demonstrate to all once more what this club is about and why people call it the top club in the planet.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
