19 of Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his maiden title for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a former number one, has had a challenging year, winning just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in specific - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally separating with long-time trainer Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's first championship after the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt since March of the previous year.

The win also means the Russian has won 21 championships at 21 different competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my both daughters at once, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

His defensive play style and frequent emotional displays on court had caused commentators to wonder if his capacity to perform at the highest level was finished.

But the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and play assertively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, taking 4 of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.

The competitors swapped breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden tour championship, seized the initiative to create a third set.

The opponent defended four early opportunities in a tight final set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, the winner secured the win with a rally at the net, with Moutet failing to control a shot after a lengthy match.
