Hulu is Producing a Far Cry TV Show from the Producers of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.

The latest action-packed title that gamers dived into was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the antagonist, Antón, and came out back in October 6, 2021. As a series, it has a reputation for celebrating violence and insanity with the same glee, all while weaving engaging, politically driven tales. Little surprise that FX's new order for a Far Cry anthology series brought on board two visionaries whose projects have exemplified all of those elements.

What to Expect

Based on Ubisoft's hit video game series, the short-run anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The series will also parallel the video games' style by introducing a different location and cast of characters in subsequent series.

Key Producers

Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as executive producers on the series under their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

We’ve shared excellent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is innovative, compelling, and wildly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our collaborators at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this cherished property.”

Cast and Future Plans

Mac will also appear in the show, but as of now, we have no details on what role that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently greenlit for more episodes, with FX and Disney finalizing a new long-term contract with the creator.

“Having the opportunity with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, trusting us with one of the most famous video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX partners constantly supports me with their ongoing trust and assistance.”

“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology-style show. Every instalment is a take of a idea, the same way every series of Fargo is a version on a theme,” explained Hawley. “To develop a big action show that can evolve from year to year, while always delving into the core of society through this multifaceted and unpredictable viewpoint, is a dream come true. I’m thrilled to partner with Rob and present our shared unconventional, visionary approach to the television.”

A time frame for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
