Taking a distinct step away from other series remakes, such as the previously launched HD-2D versions, this reimagining embraces a striking 3D aesthetic. Locales have been crafted to resemble intricate dioramas, with characters having a appealing stylized look.

  • Quick Field Encounters: Inspired by modern RPGs, weaker enemies are now defeated directly on the overworld map without initiating a full turn-based battle sequence.
  • Variable Battle Speed: Gamers have the option to speed up battle sequences to quickly get past less challenging encounters.
  • Expanded Vocation System: One brand new character role has been introduced for this reimagining. Furthermore, characters now have the option to master a secondary job, greatly expanding customization depth.

Such alterations are aimed at mitigate a key the 2000 title's common points of feedback: its immense length. The original main quest was known to take more than 100 hours to complete. The reimagined version was expressly reworked to improve flow and reduce perceived filler.
