Brian Eno Calls On Backing to Send Together for Palestine Song to UK Christmas No 1.
A campaign is aiming to send a cultural melody to the peak of the festive singles chart. The campaign seeks to provide aid to communities in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian culture and creativity.
A Possibility for Unity and an "Surprise Victory"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a opportunity to support Palestinians during the holidays. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“It would be fantastic if that occurred, yes,” he commented. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it doesn't manage to, Christmas singles are a unique phenomenon.”
Resilient Spirit of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the reimagining of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's powerful central theme.
“It occupies a very special place for countless listeners,” Barghouti said. “The message is that I would choose to perish with honor than spend my life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we want to live a respectful existence that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”
Recording Origins and Contributing Musicians
The single was laid down after a major charity concert held in the autumn. Initially planned to be performed and recorded live, the rendition was shelved during the concert due to scheduling overruns.
The impressive roster of artists contributing to Lullaby encompasses a group of prominent voices from the industry. All participated in the earlier concert, which reportedly raised a considerable total for relief efforts.
Production and Release
Lullaby was produced by a team of producers and composers. The single blends a fusion of the heritage language with new English lyrics.
The group managing the campaign have emphasized that their objective is to collect the highest amount for a specific fund. These resources will be allocated to Palestinian causes through an established charity.
“We don’t have a fixed goal,” a figure said. “We will pursue whatever we can get. Of course, the greater the amount, the better. Every penny goes out to the people of Gaza.”
The reality in the territory was characterized as its widespread damage, with a huge proportion of infrastructure said to be destroyed or damaged.
“Given that reality, a few million is unlikely to make an enormous impact. But I think what truly matters is first of all making this cause better known and showing the human dimension of the story.”
The track is set to be released this Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the charity concert will be made accessible to view on a popular streaming site from later in the month.
