Actor Rejects Anti-Vaccine Views After Voicing Contentious Coronavirus Documentary
Liam Neeson has lent his narration to a recent film that challenges the legitimacy of vaccines and praises former cabinet secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr.
The Feature's Disputed Origins
Called "Plague of Corruption," the film is adapted from a bestselling book published by a controversial scientist, who became famous during the health crisis for claims that the illness was linked to a faulty batch of the influenza shot.
The book's writing partner, Kent Heckenlively, has penned books with conspiracy-prone radio host the Infowars host. Heckenlively wrote online celebrating Neeson's participation in the film.
A Firm Rebuttal
Representatives for the actor have provided a comment firmly refuting implications that he holds anti-immunization views.
"Many understand that unethical practices may occur within the drug industry, but that cannot be conflated with rejection of vaccines," the statement states. "He never has been, and remains not, anti-vaccination. His considerable work with the global charity reinforces his long-held support for public-health initiatives."
The response noted that the actor was not involved in crafting the project's messaging and that concerns about its content are best addressed to the filmmakers.
Key Themes Within the Documentary
According to the documentary, the voiceover provided by Neeson features several provocative claims:
- It claims that pro-vaccine voices have insisted on "unconditional submission" to government bodies.
- It declares that "science has become deeply politicized."
- Kennedy is shown claiming, "The core flaw with vaccines is that they simply are not properly vetted."
- The film takes aim at pandemic restrictions, saying they caused mental anguish that led to the loss of thousands of lives.
- On the topic of the immunizations, it references a perspective that they were "rushed to market" and seen as "risky trials."
Historical Context and Recent Issues
The documentary includes a 2004 BBC documentary about AIDS medication trials on children, which was afterwards the topic of a correction by the broadcaster for violations of guidelines.
In recent weeks, RFK Jr called on the Centers for Disease Control to alter its long-held position that there is no connection between vaccines and autism. This claim is repeated in the film, contrary to a recent study from the World Health Organisation stating no such link has been found.
A Previous Position of Advocacy
Contrasting the documentary's message, Neeson has in the past expressed strong support for vaccines in his capacity as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.
In 2022, he referred to vaccines as "an incredible achievement," stating that "The conversation about vaccines in lately has forgotten how much positive impact they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest human endeavors in our history."
"Plague of Corruption" concludes with Neeson's script saying, "This is not the conclusion of our journey. It is the beginning of a fresh chapter."
